Methodology

For the present map, a grid with a grid interval of 5 m (DTM5) was used (current as of May 2009). The level of elevation precision is +/- 50 cm.

For the preparation of the map, the XYZ (text) DTM5 data was transformed by linear interpolation into iso-areas and iso-lines, with 1 m elevation steps. Since the display of these data (approx. 1 GB) takes several minutes on a standard computer, the precision of the DTM5 was reduced to 4 steps (10, 25, 50, 100 m) for display scales of 1:5,000 or greater, and from this, iso-areas and iso-lines with greater elevation steps (2.5 and 5 m) were formed.

The FIS Broker map display switches between five differently scaled maps (1:5,000, 1:10,000 1:25,000, 1:50,000, 1:100,000), depending on the scale of the display.

For the representation of the elevations in PDF maps, the DTM5 has been interpolated to a grid of 25 m and the elevation steps reduced to 2.5 m, since the representation of the elevations from the 5 m grid is unsuitable for a PDF map, because of the large amount of data.
