The former border crossing station Sonnenallee marks the beginning of this section of the Wall, of which only a few traces are left. Nearby, at the Britzer Zweigkanal, was another border crossing station for ships, called 'Düker', a few minor remnants of which can still be found. The Wall's last victim, the 20-year old Chris Gueffroy, was shot a few hundred metres west of Düker. In February 1989, he attempted to escape to the West with a friend. Gueffroy had already climbed across the hinterland Wall and only had to get across one last 2-metre high fence in order to reach the Nobelstraße, on the other side of the Britzerarm canal in the district of Neukölln when he was discovered and killed, hit by ten bullets.
The new construction of the A 113 Autobahn passes through the southern course of the former Wall strip and essentially reshapes the character of the area. The construction work has advanced to the point of leaving only sporadic traces of the border fortifications in the area along the Teltow canal.
