The western front of the palace was dominated by the massive dome of the Palace Chapel. It had been built above the Eosander portal by August Stüler and Albert Dietrich Schadow between 1845 and 1853. The "Wilhelm Apartment" was on the first floor of the north-west wing (on the left of the picture). Above it was the "White Hall", which had been converted in 1903. Exhibitions continued to be held here after 1945.
